How old must you be to work a gig job?
In the state of New Hampshire, anyone over age 12 may perform “Casual Work” – employment which is infrequent or of brief duration or productive of little or sporadic income or not commonly held to establish an employer-employee relationship – without a permit.
What age can a teen start using KROW?
We require users to be at least 13 years of age to use KROW to find nearby gig opportunities.
Do teens need a worker's permit to use KROW?
KROW does not employ teens and does not require users to obtain a worker's permit to use our service to find casual work. How does KROW protect teen service providers?
All potential hirers must provide proof of identity and and pass an internal background screening. KROW reserves the right to deny access to any person who fails to comply and/or has a record of criminality that may threaten the safety of other uses. While KROW will always strive to maintain a safe community, we cannot guarantee that bad actors won't slip through the cracks. All users should be aware of the risks, remain cautious, and report any suspicious activity to KROW and the local police department if applicable.
Are teens who use KROW obligated to pay taxes?
Federal law requires all individuals to report their annual earnings; however, only teens who earn more than $400 within the fiscal year are subject to a self-employment tax.
Will teens who use KROW receive a W-2 form?
KROW is NOT an employer, so teens will NOT receive a W-2 form. However, KROW will send teens a 1099-K form IF their annual earnings exceed $600.
